DR. ASHTON DOVER
Doctor of Physical Therapy
Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist
From a young age, Dr. Ashton has continually combined his love of sports performance, science, and physical activity. Regardless of the person, he believes in educating, empowering, and caring for the “athlete” in all of us.
Ashton is originally from Bucyrus, KS, and attended The University of Kansas for his undergraduate degree in Exercise Science. He received his Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Mayo Clinic in 2021, and began his physical therapy career in Denver, CO. Treating out of a hybrid clinic / gym setting, he found joy in caring for the everyday person with high level goals in sport and fitness or the “recreational athlete”. This includes skiing/snowboarding, climbing, hiking, court/field sports, as well as cyclists and runners of all disciplines.
Ashton believes basic athletic qualities such as mobility, strength, power, coordination, and conditioning play a vital role throughout our lifetime, but need to be specific to the individual. Outside of his formal education, Ashton has been a certified strength and conditioning coach since 2017 and has served as a strength & conditioning coach for several high school sports programs, collaborated on various biomechanics research studies, and trained individuals in a variety of sport and activity levels. This has ultimately shaped his ability to provide personalized care to everyone regardless of their goals.
Ashton has returned to make Kansas City his home again with his wife, Laura, and their red lab Birdy. He enjoys live music and sports, exercising out of his garage gym, and spending time outside with friends and family.
